                  Mechanical Engineer proficient with design development, Auto Cad, 3D Solid Works, Matlab programming, system analysis, graduate level thermodynamics analysis, familiar with many kinds of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.  Design projects have demonstrated a skill in invention and systems analysis.

 

Education

9/09 – 6/11   University of Washington –  Earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on renewable energy, graduate level thermodynamics, radiation heat transfer, mechatronics and machine design.  Senior design: innovative gear train design for the human powered submarine utilizing a varying gear ratio that resulted in a simulated 25% increase in power output.

                       

9/02- 6/04     South Puget Sound Community College, Olympia WA. Earned an Associate of Technical Arts degree in Computer Programming.

Work History

 

      NIPPON Paper Industries. (Summer 2010)

Worked on multiple projects including white water system analysis and efficiency improvement, structural supports, part design, auto-cad part drafting.  Proposed a pump modification resulting in an efficiency improvement worth over 21,000 dollars/year at 3c/kwh.  Redesigned an in-house machine part design for the replacement of simple old parts resulting in a part cost reduction of over half through intelligent lean design without any sacrifices of quality, reliability or safety.  Invented, designed, and drafted a portable/adjustable gantry system for large equipment removal in tight spaces.

 

      LOTT Alliance, Lacey Washington.  (Summer of 2008)

                        Assisted in construction management in the field and in the office. Proposed and completed a feasibility study of anaerobic digestion of grease interceptor waste that resulted in a project worth over $4,000,000 present value.

 

      Washington State University Energy Extension Program.  (Summer of 2007)

                        Developed technical resources related to Waste Heat to Power and Anaerobic Digestion. Completed literature searches and used attained knowledge to enable industry leaders to familiarize themselves with currently available technology.

 

      North West Indian Fisheries Commission (Dec.2004 – Aug 2005)

                        Created User Manuals, Test Plans and Data Dictionaries.  Repaired User interfaces.  Worked on database documentation.  Built help applications using special software. 

 

      Western Environmental Engineering (Oct. 2003 – Sept. 2004)

                        Assisted in the construction of a high tech anaerobic dairy digester

                        Project Cost: Over 4 million dollars   Project Duration: 2 years

                        Supervised eight workers during construction.  Coordinated plant operations during the startup phase.  Designed and built a tank insulation system.  Diagnosed and repaired problems with the heat exchange systems on the engine generators.  Installed different types of piping and plumbed many systems together.
